Los Angeles Clippers point guard Jason Williams announced his retirement from the NBA today, ending his 10-year career. Signed by the Clippers as a free agent on August 7, 2008, Williams did not appear in a game for Los Angeles.

Williams was awful last season and wasn’t going to help the Clipps. This is good news for them.

I’m also happy because this increases the chances of Mike Taylor making the Clippers roster. It will also increase the minutes that Jason Hart will receive which is also good news. Lots of good news.

  1. Wow. Is Jason injured? Why did he even sign if he was going to retire.

  2. Travis,

Williams’ had problems with a knee injury for the past few years. I don’t know if he re-injured himself or if his summer workouts just weren’t good enough for his taste.

What I would say is that he wasn’t an NBA level player anymore and shouldn’t have been in the league for this coming season. He was atrocious last season for the Miami Heat. Just awful.
