Boston Signs Pietrus

Yahoo Sports reports

The Boston Celtics have signed free agent forward Mickael Pietrus to a veteran minimum deal for the rest of this season, NBA.com reported Saturday.

The signing was expected, but the Celtics had to wait for Pietrus to clear waivers Saturday before he could sign.

Excellent signing for Boston.

Mickael Pietrus has one of the best backup wings in the league for the last few years. A very good to excellent defensive wing who is a good rebounding two guard and a streaky (and somewhat unintelligent) but potent offensive player.

Pietrus is an excellent replacement for the loss of Jeff Green and gives the Celtics a much needed boost on the wings.

As an aside, I’d love to see the Celtics use this an opportunity to move Keyon Dooling out of the rotation. Play Marquis Daniels as their backup point guard and Mickael Pietrus as their backup wing. Give them both about 20 minutes a night backing up Rondo, Ray and Pierce (34mpg each). I think that is Boston’s best rotation.
