ESPN’s Chris Forsberg reports

The Boston Celtics announced Saturday they have re-signed forward Jeff Green. Terms were not disclosed, but a source close to the situation told ESPN.com’s Chris Broussard the deal is for one year, $9 million.

“It is great to have Jeff back with us,” Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said. “We love the versatility that he brings to our roster and we think he will be an important part of the success that this team will have this season.”

Excellent signing for Boston.

The duration of the contract was far more important than the dollar amount. By signing Jeff Green to only a one year deal, the Celtics have managed to maintain their 2012 cap flexibility.

So they have kept their talented young forward without harming their future maneuverability. Mission accomplished.
