The Miami Sun-Sentinel reports
A pair of independent sources have confirmed to the Sun Sentinel that veteran point guard Mike Bibby is leaning toward signing with the Miami Heat in the wake of Monday’s buyout from the Washington Wizards.Bibby, acquired last week from the Atlanta Hawks at the NBA trading deadline, agreed, according to multiple reports, to bypass his $6.2 million 2011-12 salary from the Wizards in order to move to a contender.
Not sure how much this helps Miami. If at all …
Mario Chalmers is a substantially better player than Mike Bibby at this juncture in Bibby’s career. If Bibby takes minutes away from Chalmers, it will hurt the Miami Heat.
Mike Bibby is a very poor defensive player who’s on-court contributions are greatly limited/decreased by this weak point. Offensively, he is a solid decision and spot up shooter but no longer much of a scoring threat or playmaker. So he has some value offensively but fairly small and substantial negative value defensively.
In other words, he’s a very limited player at this point in his career.
