ESPN.com sources: Hornets and Raptors have also agreed to a separate trade that will send Julian Wright to Toronto for Marco Belinelli
New Orleans Hornets
Julian Wright wasn’t going to work out for the Hornets. Good choice to move him. A bit disappointed they couldn’t get more but Wright had disappointed for two straight years now so his value would have been low anyway.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Hornets use Belinelli. They have a vacuum at the backup point guard slot with Collison being traded earlier today. Belinelli could do a nice job there. Otherwise, Belinelli doesn’t offer anything more than what Wright was already doing for the team.
Good move for the Raptors. Wright is the more talented wing player and he will offer more to that team than Belinelli does since Calderon + Jack have the point guard position locked down.
J.Wright is one of the better wing defenders in the league today + a quality rebounder + great size/athleticism.
Lots of potential as a role player once he finds himself a home (similar to Ariza’s situation when discarded by Orlando). I am doubtful that will be in Toronto though.
