McGuire Signs With Bobcats

Yahoo Sports reports

Sacramento Kings free-agent forward Dominic McGuire has agreed to a one-year deal with the Charlotte Bobcats, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.

McGuire split last season with the Washington Wizards and Sacramento Kings.

I don’t see the point in this signing. Charlotte already has Derrick Brown and Gerald Henderson as young athletic wings. Both have superior potential and both need minutes. There is no place for Dominic McGuire at that club.

This is an unfortunate step in McGuire’s career and it looks increasingly likely that McGuire will fail to find the right home to hone his skills and thus become a quality role player in the NBA.

It’s a shame because he’s a terrific rebounder with very good defensive potential and well-rounded offensive game … that if it came together, could be one hell of a package.
