Yahoo Sports reports

Ray Allen confirmed to The Associated Press on Wednesday night that he has agreed to a two-year, $20 million contract to return to Boston. With Kevin Garnett under contract, Paul Pierce on the verge of a new four-year deal and coach Doc Rivers also agreeing to return, the Celtics can keep together the core of the 2008 NBA champions for at least two more years.

Allen’s agent, Lon Babby, told the AP that the second year is a player option.

Good signing for Boston.

It’s a good thing that they didn’t have to go past two seasons for Ray. It was worth paying a bit extra per annum to avoid that added season.

  1. And while watching it all, a part of Pierce wondered why the Celtics weren’t in the mix. “Sometimes, I’m sitting here and I’m looking at all these players sign and I wish we’d get on the ball a little bit,”

This quote by Pierce made me laugh. Him and Ray Allen are the reason why they havent signed anybody to a max contract!!
