My Selections

For comparison’s sake, here is a link to my choices for the All-Star reserves.

I only have a problem with one of the selections and that’s Derrick Rose.

  1. Concur – Rose is a bizarre pick – another example of the NBA trying to create a star before the player has earned it.

Rondo was snubbed last year and more deserving than Mo or Jameer, nice to see his play recognized.

Horford’s okay – the East has a lack of quality centers. Bargnani fits the all-star game play better but isn’t more deserving.

As usual, there are snubs but it’s all reasonable in the end.

  2. Two notes

    (1) Chauncey Billups was named the injury replacement to Chris Paul — good selection but I would have preferred to have seen Tyreke Evans get the nod.

    (2) Chris Kaman is the injury replacement for Brandon Roy — bad selection, undeserving. There are several players who have had better seasons than Kaman including his own teammate Eric Gordon.

    Update

Iverson is reportedly out of the ASG due to injury. No word on his injury replacement yet. Josh Smith would be a good choice. Andre Iguodala also an interesting name. I think Mo Williams stands a good chance of being selected due to the Cavs record also.

David Lee has been selected as the replacement. I do not like that choice. Lee would have been my fifth choice after (1) Josh Smith (2) Andre Iguodala (3) Stephen Jackson (4) Andrew Bogut.

    Update

Jason Kidd replaces Kobe Bryant at the ASG.

Not my first choice replacement but a good choice. I would have liked to have seen Tyreke Evans get the nod.

    Update

It looks like Joe Johnson will be starting in place of the injured Allen Iverson. Not Rajon Rondo or Derrick Rose.

    Update

George Karl wants to start Dirk Nowitzki in front of his home crowd in place of Kobe Bryant.

That would have the West starting Nash + Carmelo + Dirk + Duncan + Amare. One of those big guys is going to have defend one of Wade/Bron/JJ. Karl said Dirk would be defending LeBron (jokingly, I think!).

    Nice gesture from Karl though.
