Bucks Sign Stackhouse

ESPN reports

The Milwaukee Bucks will sign veteran guard Jerry Stackhouse to a contract for the rest of the season, according to NBA front-office sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that Stackhouse is expected to formally sign with the Bucks on Monday or possibly Tuesday after the Martin Luther King holiday.

Meh. Not an inspiring signing.

I don’t like the idea of Stackhouse playing a considerable role at this stage in his career. He spent most of last season out injured. He’s been fairly poor over the last two years. Still a solid scoring threat (10-12ppg) given enough minutes (26-30mpg)  with mediocre scoring efficiency. Below par rebounder and defender.

I don’t really understand the point of signing Stackhouse and playing him ahead of Jodie Meeks. Similar overall value with slightly different strengths and weaknesses. Stack being more of a big strong two guard with a below the foul line game while Meeks is a jump shooter.

Anyway, Jerry Stackhouse doesn’t change anything for the Bucks. He’s not a difference maker … and the Bucks playoff chances still look like they’re in the toilet.
