Wolves Acquire Jawai

USAToday reports

The Minnesota Timberwolves have acquired forward Nathan Jawai from the Dallas Mavericks. The Timberwolves also received cash from the Mavericks for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2012. The deal was announced Tuesday.

The conditional draft pick is protected through the 55th overall slot.

So basically the Mavs paid the Wolves to take Jawai off their hands.

We still don’t know much about Jawai because he hasn’t played much so far in his NBA career, but it looks like he’ll be at the bottom of the totem pole out in Minnesota. Hollins, Cardinal, Blount and Pecherov all look like they’ll be ahead of Jawai off the bench for those backup big man minutes.

Hard to see why the Wolves made this deal … Dallas must have paid them more than Jawai’s salary in order to give Minnesota a profit. Otherwise, I don’t see the point in this trade for the Wolves.
