Nate Robinson will be signed to a one-year contract today and, according to a person with knowledge of the situation, Robinson, who was a restricted free agent who earlier this summer told the Knicks he had no interest in playing anywhere else, will get more than his $2.9M qualifying offer. There are also performance bonuses included in the deal.

Then added

Was told the Nate Robinson signing won’t be officially announced today. Details? Not sure. An agreement is in place, however.

As for the trade-veto question, I was told Nate would have to consent to any trades.

Anyway, the deal should get done soon, likely tomorrow.

Good deal for New York. They won’t have their draft pick next summer and consequently need to be as good as possible without hurting their 2010 hopes, and signing Nate Robinson helps that picture.

Update: Nate Robinson signed for $4 million guaranteed, with an extra $1 million bonus should the Knicks make the playoffs.

  1. Is this ever dragging out!!!
    Sign a deal already.
