Shutting Down

In Uncategorized on January 22, 2011 at 3:52 pm

I haven’t been very active on this blog since early in the summer. I haven’t found the time or the inclination to write up posts anymore and now feel it is time to close down this blog.

I want to thank everyone who has visited this site over the past three years and read my posts. Especially those who posted comments. Thank you.

Note: Al Harrington’s Contract

In General NBA on January 15, 2011 at 2:15 pm

Per ESPN

It hasn’t made it any easier for Denver or New Jersey to find a fourth team willing to take on Al Harrington’s contract, but the final two years of the deal actually feature partial guarantees. Although there are four years and $27.7 million left on Harrington’s pact after this season, only $7.4 million of the $14.8 million he’s scheduled to earn in 2013-14 ($3,574,300) and 2014-15 ($3,804,900) is fully guaranteed.

Interesting tidbit amidst all the Carmelo Anthony trade rumours.

Aldridge lowers his torso, sticks out his derriere and bumps Turiaf’s midsection once, twice, three times as he backs in toward the basket. With Turiaf off-balance, Aldridge floats right for a short, easy hook shot.

It’s a scene that has become commonplace this season as Aldridge has made a startling transition from finesse player to one of the most complete power forwards in the game. Read the rest of this entry »

Scrappy, steady center Anderson Varejao is done for the season with a torn ankle tendon that will require surgery, another major blow to the bottoming-out Cavs, who are not close to recovering after star LeBron James left as a free agent last summer.

“It’s a big blow,” first-year coach Byron Scott said in Phoenix before the Cavaliers played the Suns. “Arguably, he’s been our best player.” Read the rest of this entry »

In General NBA on January 8, 2011 at 3:56 am

NBA Fanhouse reports

The writer, Peter Vecsey of the New York Post, wanted to know why the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant hadn’t practiced all season up until after the Lakers Christmas defeat against the Heat, a question he thought the Los Angeles local press should have called him out on. Bryant spoke with Vecsey earlier this week, who answered his question.

So, Kobe, why weren’t you practicing all season? Read the rest of this entry »

Suns On Amare Stoudemire’s Knee

In General NBA on January 7, 2011 at 9:11 am

Some interesting quotes from a NY Times article.

First some background:

Stoudemire, 28, is playing at his peak, averaging 26.4 points, 9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks for the Knicks. But the Suns saw a player who had six operations in eight years, none more worrisome than the left knee surgery he had in October 2005.

Stoudemire had microfracture surgery, a procedure designed to spur cartilage growth, providing a critical buffer between bones. Stoudemire’s existing cartilage had become damaged and the knee had become painful. Read the rest of this entry »
