RealGM has the press release

The Los Angeles Clippers announced on Friday that the team has re-signed restricted free agent forward Steve Novak. Per team policy terms of the deal were not announced. In 71 games played for the Clippers last season, Novak averaged 6.9 points in 16.4 minutes per game. Completing his third NBA season, the sharpshooter out of Marquette connected on 119-286 three-pointers (.416) on the year.

Thoughts

One of the best three point shooters in the league … but he’s a liability at everything else.

Novak is a borderline NBA talent and it’s alright that they brought him back. I think the Clippers would have been better off not resigning him though, since Dunleavy is likely to overplay him, but it isn’t a big deal.

  1. Dave,

An example of what and who I think Steve Novak resembles as a perimeter shooting, weak rebounding pseudo “Big Man” in the NBA.

At least Mike Dunleavy hasn’t yet rewarded him with a $50.0 M five-year contract extension.

  2. Dave,

Want to know just how bad Andrea Bargnani is?

If you compare his per minute stats to Steve Novak’s, you’d be hard-pressed to distinguish between these two players.

At least Mike Dunleavy hasn’t yet decided to give his perimeter shooting weak rebounding pseudo “Big Man” a $50.0 M five-year contract extension.
