Cavs Sign Two to Non-Guaranteed Deals

Brian Windhorst reports via Twitter

Source tells Plain Dealer Cavs have agreed with combo forward Rob Kurz on a nonguaranteed contract. Quality shooter who can play 3 & 4.

And, the second report

Cavs have also signed center Darryl Watkins to a training camp contract. He will compete with Kurz for a roster spot with Kurz as favorite.

Thoughts

Rob Kurz is a solid end of the roster player for the Cavs. I can’t imagine him cracking their rotation, but a solid end of the roster guy.

I don’t know enough about Watkins to comment.

Update: Kurz still hasn’t officially accepted the offer from the Cavs. It’s on the table but not signed.

Update: Kurz is now considering joining the Nuggets. The offer from the Cavs is still on the table, but Kurz would like a larger amount of his deal to be guaranteed.

Update: Kurz will indeed join the Cavs training camp and his agent feels that he has a good chance of making the team.
