Jason Kidd Stays In Dallas
In an expected move, Jason Kidd has re-upped with the Mavericks.
Jason Kidd has given the Dallas Mavericks a verbal commitment that he will re-sign with the team Wednesday.
Kidd, 36, will receive a 3-year, fully guaranteed contract worth in excess of $25 million.
“We are excited to have Jason Kidd back in a Mavs uniform,” Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told The Dallas Morning News. “He was a major contributor for us last year, and we expect more of the same next year.”
Dallas Mavericks
A very good signing for the Mavericks. Jason Kidd will be a steal at that price next season, and he figures to age well considering the way he plays and how he effects a game. Therefore, a good contract.
Dallas now have an interesting core to build around — Dirk Nowtizki, Jason Kidd, Josh Howard, Jason Terry, Marcin Gortat and hopefully Brandon Bass — If Dallas can cash in on their expiring contracts (Dampier + Stackhouse) and add another star quality player to their core, they could become a team to watch in the Western Conference next season.
Well done to Mark Cuban and Donnie Nelson, they’ve done an excellent job so far this offseason.
Portland Trailblazers
I’m disappointed the Blazers didn’t make a run at Jason Kidd. He would have been a perfect player to bridge the gap between the Blazers’ youth to maturity, the guiding veteran who shows them what it takes to win and gives them the confidence to compete with anyone. In Kidd you have the ultimate facilitator, a player who would only serve to help the Blazers youth develop.
Then add the bonus of a three year contract, so his deal wouldn’t get in the way of resigning all those youngsters down the road, and it looks like a match made in heaven.
