Philadelphia 76ers Salaries
Alright, we’ll split the contracts into two sections, above and below $5 million, let’s start with the above $5 million crowd.
- Elton Brand – $14.86 million
- Samuel Dalembert – $12.13 million
- Andre Iguodala – $12.2 million
- Jason Kapono – $6.21 million
These four contracts combine to make $45.4 million.

Andre Iguodala has five years left on his contract, Brand has four more seasons, Dalembert and Kapono have two seasons left on their deals.
The rest of the team’s contracts
- Louis Williams – $4.97 million
- Willie Green – $3.86 million
- Thaddeus Young – $2.11 million
- Marreese Speights – $1.69 million
- Jason Smith – $1.42 million
These five contracts combine to cost $14.05 million.
Lou Williams has four more years on his contract, while Willie Green has two years, and the rest of the youngsters are on their rookie contracts.
The Sixers total is up to $59.45 million for nine players.
Other costs
- First Round Pick — The Sixers selected Jrue Holiday with the #17 pick, and that comes with a $1.26 million cap hold.
- Open Roster Spots — The Sixers have only 10 players on their books, so they’ll need a minimum of three more, likely veteran free agents, costing them $2.475 million.
The Sixers have a base payroll of $63.19 million
The Cap + Luxury Tax
The salary cap is expected to be between $56 and $58 million, likely somewhere at or slightly above $57 million.
The figure mentioned for the new luxury tax figure in Stern’s memo at mid-season was $69.4 million.
Sixers vs Cap + Tax
The Sixers are $6 million over the salary cap. So they’ll have the MLE at their disposal this summer.
The Sixers are $6 million below the luxury tax threshold.
Free Agency
The Sixers first priotity will be signing Andre Miller to an extension. He’ll likely cost in between $7-9 million, and will take the Sixers into the luxury tax threshold.
It’s hard to see where the Sixers go from here. A lot will depend on (1) whether they view Thaddeus Young as a wing or a power forward, and, (2) whether they can trade Sam Dalembert. Those two decisions will whether or not the Sixers will use their MLE, and on what type of player.
