NBA Finals Thoughts: Interesting Stats

In 2008 Finals, 2008 Playoffs on June 9, 2008 at 5:55 pm

Celtics:
45 perimeter shots
23 shots in the key

38 free throws

Lakers:
42 perimeter shots
41 shots in the key

10 free throws

Leon Powe 14 minutes – 13 free throws.

Los Angeles Lakers – 240 minutes – 10 free throws

  1. there is no question, the lakers got screwed out of some free throws, but i thought they weren’t aggressive enough for my liking.

  2. The Lakers constant reaching in cost them most of those FTs. They were slapping and hacking away with silly soft fouls, like Boston were in the first round against Atlanta. Add in their poor over-zealous help defense and now you have an open lane to paint off the ball. Those two factors were always going to work against them.

Still there was a lot of calls that went Boston’s way. It’s a rare day when I say something negative about the refs performance as a whole but in that game it definitely did favour Boston and in a significant way.
