Warning Shot

This is from the Chad Ford chat going on right now over at ESPN:

Bill (Dallas): Am I the only one who thought that the biggest problem in Dallas wasn’t Avery? The biggest problem was Mark Cuban and Dirk Nowitzki having more control over the team than the head coach. Dirk and Mark wanted just as much to do with the crippling trade of Devin Harris, just as much to do with the constant distractions. I mean really, when a franchise is as embattled as Dallas, wouldn’t it make sense to look at the two guys who makeup the face of the franchise?

SportsNation Chad Ford: (5:14 PM ET ) Here’s the other side … I like how Cuban quit listening to “basketball people” and suddenly his team’s future doesn’t look so hot. And you should never … never … let a player influence personnel moves. Remember how “on board” Nash and Amare were on that Shaq deal. Players don’t see the big picture.

This is a warning shot to all owners who involve themselves in basketball related decisions. I’m talking about you too Michael Heisley.
